Last week I shared an outfit inspired by Sheldon Cooper, played by the awesome Emmy-winner Jim Parsons, and this week I decided to stick with the same show. Why not? It’s a great show! It’s so nerdy and cute and funny. Plus, now they have TV’s Blossom as Amy, Sheldon’s girlfriend, AND they have a gorgeous Indian actress playing Raj’s little sister (an attorney), and Dr. Leonard Hofstadter’s girlfriend. And of course, Kaley Cuoco (you might remember her from “Eight Simple Rules,” which inexplicably remained on the air for a while after John Ritter’s death) is as adorable as ever.
Raj is Dr. Rajesh Koothrappali, and he’s an astronomer and he discovered some star or planet and landed a spot in People Magazine but then blew it by being conceited. And then he learned the true meaning of Arbor Day.
Sorry, old Simpsons joke.
Anyway, Raj’s little sister Priya is dating his friend Leonard, and in the most recent season finale of the Big Bang Theory, we realize that Raj slept with Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Leonard’s ex-girlfriend who wants him back, and who Leonard is probably still in love with.
It doesn’t go away just because you get a Ph.D. and a couple of Masters and discover a planet or star or some crap.
Anyway, Raj is kind of a sad sack. He’s geeky and neurotic and he can’t talk to girls at all unless he’s had some alcohol. It’s a near disorder, you guys.
As you can see, Raj’s fashion sense is ridiculous. Those patterns don’t just clash, they’re engaged in all out genocide. And it’s like this ALL THE TIME. And usually he wears some sort of brightly colored jacket on top of this.
It’s terrible, you guys.
So for today, I put together a Raj-type outfit but I cleaned it up a bit so that it wasn’t so … terrible.
Here’s what I came up with.
I used blue jeans here, so if your office is formal, swap them out with black pants.
I basically just cleaned up Raj’s look and used far fewer colors. I went with dark blue jeans, a navy shirt, and a black and grey sweater vest. It’s sleek and polished and not … loud. And of course, we have black dress shoes, the last part of our complete, NOT insane, Raj-inspired outfit!
