This one is for the fellas. Dudes always tweet me and email me and FB me and send me carrier pigeons about how they want me to do more fashion posts for boys. So I need to start doing that. But really? I just feel like an idiot when I put together something for the dudes. I mean, pants, shirt, shoes. You guys really can’t go wrong.
I focus on women here because, first, I am one. I gotta stick with what I know. But it’s also because there are SO many ways we can screw the pooch on this, you guys. We wear the wrong shoes with an outfit and it goes from professional to dowdy. We wear the wrong top under a cardigan and it goes from feminine to girly. You wear the wrong jeans and you go from Gloria Vanderbilt (doesn’t she make jeans? Like for KMart or something? And didn’t she spawn Anderson Cooper or am I getting my circuits crossed?) to hippie Gloria Bunker, played by Sally Struthers.
My father loves “All in the Family,” which he refers to as “Archie Bunker.” He loves that character and laments that ‘you can’t have a character like that on TV anymore.’
It’s always fun here, you guys.
But anyway, dudes don’t have to worry about looking dowdy. You guys don’t have to worry about messing things up that way. You don’t have to worry about looking boyish the way we sometimes worry about looking girlish, because no one would think of you as boyish even if you walked in on Casual Friday wearing your jeans, a polo, and your PF Flyers, exactly the same outfit you wore when you were five and, in fact, a boy.
So the incentive to talk about dude’s outfits just isn’t really there for me. I know I should do more guy posts. I WILL do more guy posts. But they’re just not as important to me as women’s posts. But no worries. I’ll be doing more, like I said, and talking about suiting and vents and notches and fabrics and khakis and ties and all sorts of fun and totally-not-boring things.

Baby steps, though, right? Baby steps. That’s why today’s deal is for a watch – for the dudes, unlike yesterday’s, which was for the gals. Click here or on the picture to get there and buy it.
This watch retails around $400 but is hugely discounted here. It is the Yacht Man Leonardo Collection Japanese Quartz Movement watch, available in three ‘colors.’ Or what pass as colors. I don’t know, you guys. :|
These are apparently designed for a ‘nautical life,’ and make good ‘boating watches.’
Now, I don’t know how many of my male readers live a nautical life, but for those of you who do go boating, I’m going to basically have to insist that the next time you do, you wear this watch. Otherwise, it doesn’t count.
I’m also going to have to insist that the next time you go boating, you take me with you. I like to boat. For me, boating basically means eating a lovingly packed lunch from a cooler, slathering on an inch-thick of sunscreen, laying out in the sun until my brain fries, and then hopping over the side of the boat into the water even though I can’t swim.
I take a floatie with me, you guys, no biggie.
So yes. Boys, here’s your agenda for the day.
- Buy watch.
- Go boating.
- Go boating with Huma.
- Bring a floatie.
I think we can manage that.

omg – Huma, you slay me! thanks for making me lol this morning.
ps – can I go boating with you guys too? ;o)
You can ABSOLUTELY go boating with me. :D
