I got an email from Melissa this morning that was just too fun to pass up! Apparently, her law firm is having a casual get-together/mixer type function and everyone’s supposed to come dressed up as a (human) movie character of their choice.
Melissa is one of the younger associates and is going with a couple of her guy friends who are also younger associates at the firm. They’ve decided to do the John Grisham thing and just show up in casual suits as the characters played by Tom Cruise, Matt Damon, etc. Melissa doesn’t want to stick out in a super girly dress (the kinds I like, hah) and wanted to pick my brain for a possible costume/character idea.
I was originally leaning toward a super chic Holly Golightly look, but then thought, since her friends are all going as dapper young associates in suits…why not Annie Hall?
:-D
Come on. It’s brilliant. Annie Freaking Hall. An excuse to wear trousers and a necktie and be as adorable as Diane Keaton.

Let’s get to it!
This is the look I put together for Melissa as Annie Hall. She’ll fit right in with her pals and be appropriately dressed for this casual get-together.
The Eva Pant in Cotton Twill ………. $29.50
Classic LS Button Down Shirt ………. $9.80
Apt 9 Pleated Vest (SALE) ………. $29.99
Merona Paisley Necktie ………. $17.99
Rampage “Kassy” Oxford ………. $50
Woohoo!
Comfortable twill pants that are slouchy-casual but still tailored enough. No fuss button down. A cute little pleated vest that gives you a slightly sleeker look than Annie’s slouchy vest. A pretty paisley necktie in bright blue to keep the masculine edge, and menswear-inspired oxford heels to complete the look.
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of menswear as much as I am of flirty little dresses, and I’ve always loved Annie Hall. I tried to keep it under $100, then decided to call it an “Inspired By” look so I could break with the budget. :-P Semantics. I figure I gotta get used to playing around with them.
Have fun at the party, Melissa! You’ll look adorable.
Also, just in case you need it, How To Tie A Tie. Me and my brother both learned how to do it from that website. :-P

Great idea!!! Who doesn’t love Annie Hall? Seriously! This was a great pick!
Thanks! :-D I want to show up to school dressed as Annie Hall one day. You in? We should start a movement. Get everyone in on it.
i may or may not have dressed as annie hall throughout a good portion of high school <3
That is so awesome. :-D
